Door pins -- Which way is up?

Post by Rileysowner »

I am going to replace the upper pins in the front door hinges, but the ones in there have the head facing down. Is that correct? I ask because the old passenger side pin is slipping out (one of the reasons I need to replace them). Also, any suggestions on tools to help taking them out and putting the replacements in?

On my 90, the head is down. There is a oneway tabbed sleeve that is holding mine up.
I was told getting my beauty sleep was a waste of time.

Ok, then they are in correctly. I figured they were, but thought I better check since the ones in our Sunrunner are the other way around.

Any suggestions on how to easily remove the old and install the new pins?

I've got to do the pin job on my driver's door. Don't have enough money for beer so I can't start the project.

Thankfully door pins are cheap. Hopefully they are easy to replace as well. I have not tried yet, mainly because I have not had the time and when I had the time it was raining. The forecast looks good for today, and I have tons of work to do, so they will have to wait again. #-o

I still haven't done the door pins, but since I did get my work today done early, I finally got my wife's mazda running smoothly. So if the weather cooperates, Monday I will try to do the door pin on the passenger side (since it is already falling out). If it goes well. I will do the drivers side soon after.

One question. When I pull the pin the door will have to be supported, any suggestions on how to support it? :-k

Take a broom and duct tape it to the door as a peg leg.
