My current project.

Post by v8famvan »

I, like you have heard it said, "You can't fit a V8 in a Safari/Astro van!"
I have also heard that you can't fit a big block in there either.
We all know that it can be done.
The question now is, can you fit a blower on a small block in there? =P~
The answer is yes, you can.
For the past couple of weeks I have been helping a fellow Safari van owner with his van which has had a few modifications done to it.
What do you think?

Love it! I've often wondered if a blower could be squeezed into an Astro.
Nice fabrication work on that, too. More info, please!
I see the brakes use vacuum boost; where do you get the vacuum from when under boost?
Who makes the blower?

Air and fuel mixing station on the vertical.
2 NOS(?) solenoids on the driver's side of the blower.
8 spark plugs.
Prototype blower installation - actual casted units will be available on Ebay in 3 weeks?

That's a ridiculous word you made up. It does NOT exist, and I beseech you to halt any further massacrationification of the English language.

Kidhauler, yes it is.
You win.
I don't know when he is going to run it at Mission again, but our current plan is to get it ready for him to take to the Hot Rods & Classics shop here in Chilliwack on Father's day to enter into the burnout contest. \:D/
More pics of that & possibly others will follow.......
For a video of it running at Mission with the old engine combination (396 & 2200? whipple) see here or see his DragTruk page.

Some specs - 414 CID - 3300 whipple charger - NOS - THM400 tranny - 2" primary headers - 3" dual exhaust....

Well, after fixing (& modifying) alot of things on the van in the last little while, I finally took it out on the street for a drive around town tonight.
WOW!! \:D/
My first stop was the gas station & on the way there, 1 police officer was checking out the van as I drove past him. Now I have made some changes to it to make it street legal, but it is on the edge & I am sure an officer could find something - like the noise level.
My oldest son, who has helped me alot in the work, was with me on the first roadtest & quite enjoyed himself as I opened it up on the highway a lttle. O:)
Nothing quite like driving a low 10 second vehicle on the street (found a 10.098 time slip in the glovebox).... You do get a few looks as you rumble by.....
Now I just gotta get those pics up.
