I'm new also! edit! it's a '95 Astro not '96

Post by violent b »

Hello everyone, my name is Bill and I am (or will be hopefully this weekend) the proud owner of a 96 Astro. I've been looking around for an older panel Astro to do a stereo in, talked to my uncle who is in the body shop business, and he had a 95 Astro with windows that he would give me for free...yes, I said FREE!!!!!! \:D/ and it does run.

once I get it I'll post up pics, it's not too pretty though.

I'm from the tuner world, owning a 2005 Scion xB with all kinds of mods done to it. so this is my very first Astro, hell, my first GM product I ever owned. So i will be needing all kinds of info from everyone here on AS, so get ready to answer some questions. I'm really excited about this, I can't wait. (I sound like such a dork)

Bill, welcome to ASV. Glad to have you and your first GM. Guess I'm new to this site also. Am on AS all the time but since it's down again,,think I'll hang here from now on.
Lots of great folks here with all the answers.

Welcome aboard! Don't feel bad, you're amongst loads of other AstroSafari dorks!! \:D/
No one quite understands my obsession with my wagon like the other AstroSafarians here. Most anything I do to my van I post it here or at AS.com, not to show off, but to be reminded that I'm not the only Astro "dork" in the world, and there are others who understand my affliction!! \:D/
Look forward to seeing pics of your ride.
Late,

Welcome to ASV.

You must be young if this is your first GM....
I was told getting my beauty sleep was a waste of time.

1990 Astro (Z motor) mostly original @ 343,584 miles (552,944.8488960001 Canadian) (03/2008). Bad startup puff. Starting to spray for skeeters. Gone 06/07/08.
1993 Astro with a bad W motor. Parked next to a chicken coop in Talking Rock GA
I'm 'tween Canton and Holly Springs (North NorthWest of Atlanta GA)
I haul bottled water everyday- between 500 and 2500 pounds (226.796185 and 1,133.980925 Canadian) INSIDE the van.

Thanks everyone.

I'm 35 years young.

when I was growing up my family was mainly Chrysler/Dodge people. I bucked the system and bought a '75 VW Bug, then a '93 Saturn SL1 brand new(I don't consider Saturn a GM brand even though they are, Saturn was just so differnt back then). Then from Saturn I went to a brand new '95 Ford Ranger, then to a brand new '05 Scion xB. I still have the xB as my daily driver, the Astro will be a toy.

I looked at the door jam sticker and the Astro is made in 5/95, so it's a '95 not a '96 like I was told.

an I will be taking many, many pictures as I go. I'll start a new thread in the members van forums so you can see the "before" pics.

Hi newbie! Don't feel like a "dork". After all, it is your opinion and YOU ARE entitled to it! It just so happens that there are others who agree with your assessment of these vans.

That preliminary out of the way, WELCOME!!!!
