Lucus Oil treatment

Post by afsigma21 »

Anyone use the Lucus Oil Transmission treatment?

I know there is no snake oil...

My Tranny shifts from 1 to 2 funny, almost hangs a second before it fully shifts. I know it eventually needs rebuilt or repaired, but I am wondering if this stuff can extend the time frame. It has been like this since the new engine went in 6000 miles ago, and who knows how long before that.

Just curious what you all think.

Before you ask, the pan has been dropped and then refilled 2 times in the last 6000 miles, so I should have basically new fluid in there.

All my buddies swear by the Lucas tranny treatment. I've used it in my old fullsize chevy but it didn't seem to help the hard shifting. I think a hard shift from 1st to 2nd in astros is normal when they are cold.

Does the hard shift occur when the van is all warmed up and been running for a while?

NO, it is always, cold or warm, not really any different. Actually, it might be SLIGHTLY better when cold, but not significantly.

I think I am going to do a fluid change and add in a quart.

I've had limited results with the lucas, trans fix, oil treatment or fuel treatment.... only thing that works ok and only on chassis lubing is their red n tacky grease. don't use it on wheel bearings, it's too thick.

if you can see if anywhere in your area retails Tripak. http://www.tripaksuperlubricants.com/ or http://www.tripakusa.com/

email the US distributor on the site.

You want the metal treatment (aka protection plus). It resolved my shift delays in my 94 astro and 87 mazda by adding around 250ml, I think it was, to the auto tranny ... double check the percentage they have listed. ..

if you can't get the Tripak .. for the cost, give the lucas a shot
