Brembo Brake Rotors

Post by 1Gary »

I was wondering if anyone knew of retail outlet that sold Brembo brake rotors for my 1994 LT Astro in my Rochester,NY area.I have looked on line to Autozone and N.A.P.A. and they don't list that product line.

Thank You in advance,

I highly Recommend these brake rotors, Because they are of Higher Quality.

All the cheap crap brands will warp, giving you a pulsing and soft brake pedal.

Please don`t be tempted by the cheap junk to save a buck, because brakes are important.

http://www.Tirerack.com has them, but they don't appear to be anything special.

I've owned this 1994 Astro for I think is going on 3yrs now and the whole time I haven't liked the brakes. We have looked at them a number of times and didn't find anything that would cause a bad brake issue.I have adjusted the rear brakes too and still not the best brakes I have ever driven. In fact,I think the vacuum brakes on Ole Yellar are much better.

The dust shields have rusted off it,it is due to NYS inspection, and the rotors are shot.So I thought I would start from the spindle and rebuild it new.

The Brembo's are highly recommended from a number of different sources and I want to use that suggestion on the rebuild. The ones I am speaking about are the cross drilled models.I am just guessing, but I would think the Brembo's are a harder steel rotors that make them work so well.

The other part that is coming into this decision is I am going to do the 3/4 ton truck caliper conversion which as I understand it will give me 20% more pad surface area.I will have my parts guy pull calipers and we will compare the bolt patterns based on threads I have read here before.I am thinking I need a heavier duty high quality rotor to handle the extra pressure/abrasion.

Surely I have found on-line sources for the rotors.I was just hoping to find someone local that I could buy over the counter.

Thank You all for your replies,

I bought a pair for my 95 from TireRack,.com several years ago. They were nice pieces once I got them. But..... They didn't fit. They were machined incorrectly. There were lugs cast into the back side of the rotor that had not been machined down and thus would not clear the ABS sensor when I went to install them. TireRack.com was great to work with. I explained to them what was wrong, they asked for pictures which I provided and they paid for return shipping too if I recall correctly. Shortly there after, no rotors for Astros listed on their site. If they have them back, I hope Brembo got a little better quality control.
