Photos of the front end repair 95 Safari

Post by Grover »

Hi all I figured I would take some photos and share with you my project of installing the donor rad support. Any comments ideas suggestions are welcome especially with getting out the seized up frame support bolts and bushings.

That scares me to death. I'm gonna have to check my vans, I've never seen anything that bad. :toimonster:

Well seeing as I never owned a Safari before I didn't know what to expect.. I knew about the usual rusty brake lines and shot rocker panels. Had no idea the rad support is a common problem with these things.

Went to the wrecking yard today.. I looked at every Safari/Astro I could see.. with the exception of a 2003 model.. every single one of them had a rotted rad support especially on the bottom.

Taking out my rad support was no fun, and not something I am too inclined to do again anytime soon.

It amazes me at how much rot you get up there. Southerners make fun of the rust I get in the Northeast and it doesn't even compare to you guys. I think they add acid to your salt. Salt sucks!

HOLY COW!!! When I changed the noses around on my 93 with 300,000+ miles it wasn't that bad! Even the 98 donor nose sitting in the junk yard for months exposed was in great shape. Something has to be up with whatever is put on your roads or bad metal or something.....
