Glove Compartment Assembly Wiring

Post by vanagon40 »

1998 Astro LT

I removed my glove compartment assembly (aka instrument panel lower extension) to remove the engine cover. When reinstalling, I found a wire with a two lead connector that I did not remember removing. I did not see anywhere to connect it. The wires are orange and black.

I have the remote CD player mounted in the glove compartment assembly, cigarette lighter, and two power supplies on the passenger side. The only thing I can think of is the wire is for a light for the glove compartment (a light that I do not have).

Can anyone explain that the extra wire is for?

It sure looks like the glove box light wire. I just had my light switch out lubricating it so when you opened the compartment the pin that rests on the door wouldn't stick. It's a 2 wire because you need the ground.
