Aftermarket Cruise Control?

Post by Bum420 »

I need to put a cruise control on my 97 Safari AWD. I called up all the auto parts stores and they told me to ask this forum. Could someone tell me how to accomplish this? If I went to the junk yard, could I pull what I need off an Astro van and what years would I need to stick to?

I'm not sure how to go about the junk yard route, but have you checked J.C. Whitney? It used to be they had 'factory-like' add-on cruise controls where the turn signal stalk was replaced and all the other needed parts were included. (I haven't looked in one of their catalogs for years, so I don't know if they still sell 'em.)

I would guess that if you grabbed parts off of a donor at the wreckers that you could transplant them. I could be wrong, though.

I easily added cruise on my 1989 with the TPI 305 using Camaro and Astro parts. It all plugged in really easy.

I also am looking into adding cruise control onto my 1999 Astro AWD Cargo. to much road time to not have it. Anyone have some ideas?
