The 4.3 is noisy and has milkshake for lubrication.This is the willing donor for a 5.7 with a mild cam
I hope to get at this project this summer,but will for sure have some photo documentation along the way.
I have some questions, ( no surprise) about this swap.About the flex plate/starter combination.Can I use the 4.3 ring gear and starter? (the van is a 92,the donor is an 88 with a 5 speed)Will the 4.3 flex plate bolt to the 5.7 crank and the starter mounts line up?
Also curious about the exhaust,I hope to use the original 5.7 manifolds,it looks like they dump in the same position as the v6,but I think the diameter of the y pipe is greater on the 5.7.Are the "bells" on the v6 y pipe flared enough to seal on the 5.7 manifold,or will I need to fabricate something to seal this up?
