My '94 does the same thing. Prolly not the answer you want, but I just leave the lever in D onstead of OD, and shift to OD when needed.
I don't think there is any reasonable way to correct this, other than flashing the prom.
Could be wrong, It's happened before.

Welcome sawdust!

Roy is right, just drop the lever into 3rd or D when running under 50 or in town or city driving. I don't think there is an easy way to keep the van from shifting into OD without a re-flash and that would be costly. You could also do a gear swap to 4.10's and that would help tremendously. Again, this is very costly but you would gain some gas mileage back to offset the cost.

How about some pics of your van? No lift and 30's...I wanna see it! :supz:

4.10s....Good call. That would fix it and make the van a real kick in the pants to drive. :guitar:

Sounds like your tranny isn't adjusted properly. After a complete refurb/reman of my tranny, my Klementine doesn't shift into OD until I reach highway speeds.

There are no adjustments on a 4L60E.

Au contraire, rlsllc. There ARE adjustments on a 4L60E. There's a ratchet on the tranny that affects the shift points.

x2... Are you sure you're not thinking of the TV cable adjustment on the 700R-4 Squidster?

I've changed several of these 4L60E transmissions, both the early one piece and the one with the separate bell housing, and must have missed it every time. Where is this ratchet located?

Driver's side. Don't ask me exactly where, but it had to be adjusted by the mechanic after it slipped. My shift point from 1 to 2 was somewhere around 41 mph before they adjusted it back to about 12 mph.
