new Astro Cargo Van Owner in Michigan

Post by completetech »

just found this forum as I was doing some research on my new 1999 Astro AWD cargo van I just purchased for work. looks like accordin to the previous owner he stated his mechanic said he needs new idler arms for the front end. soon to come I will be doing these myself (any helpful suggestions on easiest way to replace would be great).

I got lucky and purchased it after some haggling, for $900 cash. looks like with all the bin and racks and shelving inside it was easily worth that. got of course the 4.3 vortec in it so I am happy.

the only real big issue I see is that I have no cruise control. this however I never noticed when I purhased. I am going to have to look into this as some of my trips are 2+ hours one way for work. oh well my fault.

so I guess that is a little about my van. now onto me I suppose

I live in Grand Rapids MI. I own a technology / telecom business completetechsolutions.biz and like to travel. have four kids and a wonderful wife.

guess thats the whole run down.

thanks for having such a great forum.

Welcome to the site, Nathan. You'll find just about everything you ever wanted to know about your van here. The idler arms are a common problem. Be sure to replace them with Moog replacements. The cheap stuff will fail quickly. They are a piece of cake to change. You'll see when you slide under the van to check them. \:D/

welcome from Nathan from Grand Rapids

we'll keep this an intro thread but .. if cruise is installed on your van, just doesn't work... it'll most likely related to your vacuum leak problem ..

carry on with the greetings LOL
