We got a little more done today. Pulled the subframe and exhaust out. Hoping to be able to use the stock y-pipe with the stock manifolds on the 92 g van donor motor. Looks doable so far. We'll see.

the height is going to stay stock, we are putting in a 350 small block, and i do not think we are putting in any electrical fans for the radiator and the cool thing about this van is that it came with a transmission i cant remember what its called but it has a big K on it

Hopefully the engine will be buttoned up Sunday. So far we stripped it down and cleaned. Took the heads off and replaced the seals and put some Edelbrock springs in. Replaced the timing chain and installed an Edelbrock cam and lifters. It is such a pain using a used motor. 90% of your time is cleaning everything. If everything goes to plan the 5.7 will be sitting in the subrame tomorrow night.

Anybody ever install an Edelbrock cam using their instructions for adjusting the lifters? They warn NOT to pump the new lifters before adjusting. They then have you bring the exhaust valve to just rising and adjust the intake. Bring the intake to it's lowest travel and adjust the exhaust. Bring each to 0 lash plus a half turn. Repeat for 7 other cylinders. Needless to say by the time you are done, all the rockers are loose because they compressed with no oil in them. Very disconcerting.

Bill I am waiting for the info on your kit before I can answer your question.I am asking you these questions because the dumb bass computer I am using I can't read the numbers on the box and am guessing from the pic it is a roller hydro cam.I for now suggest you do prime the lifters after you have adjusted 0 lash. That is taking a old dizzy and remove the cam gear from it and fashion the dizzy end so you can drive it with a drill motor to prime the oil pump. Then turn over the engine with the starter. That should fill the lifters providing you have the adjustment right.(I am sure you do,btw)Spinning the engine over will provide for filling the lifters even through it is a roller which has some steep lift specs.Kind of sounds like Edelbrock wants 0 lash on the heel side of the cam given intake or exhaust. Also sounds like this cam has some pretty tight lobe centers and that is why they are giving the instructions they are.

One source you might want to sign onto and post your question is:

http://forums.edelbrock.com/forums/index.php

That is if you don't want to call their tech line on Monday.
