Washed the outside from the snow crud that accumulated the last month. And the same on the inside. Vacuumed and got the trash out.

Now she feels a bit more better.... Yeah thats right. Then i set about contemplating projects that will probably never be. But i can dream right..

Today I:

- finished installing the backup camera I bought my wife for Christmas
- Replaced my "screaming" blower motor with a new one from Autozone.
- Removed my broken fake-chrome grill and epoxied it back together, then painted it black (it was the only chrome on the car, all other trim was already black from the factory. Never thought the chrome looked right anyway) then reinstalled the whole mess... and re-broke all my epoxy "welds" while reinstalling <sigh>
- Swapped out the broken factory CD player for a working factory cassette player. (I use a MP3 player with cassette adapter in my other car so a cassette player works out better anyway)

Not a bad day all-in-all. :drinkers:

Next day off I will remove my door panels and clean and re-lube my weak door-lock actuators.

Changed the oil, dumped the castrol syntec and put in Rotella semi synthetic. I didn't go with full synthetic as it appears to be losing oil somewhere.

Once I got under the truck, it appears to be coming from the main seal but I can't be sure. However, the is oil coming between the transmission and the engine. Yay.

I have been looking at the "ears" off the airbox and decided they had to go. Apparently GM did to as they were easy to remove. It felt good and now the van has a growl to it under full throttle. Heck, maybe it even has more pep!

I have decided the van is too high geared. Put lower axle gears on Christmas list.

Getting up my driveway in reverse takes entirely too much pedal pressure. 4.10's here I come! (well, after the wife hands the van off to me).

Sorry, no pictures of the flashlight yet.

I rented an enclosed 6x10 trailer, and picked up a 2001 HD XL1200S about 50 miles away. The air temp was in the mid twenties (F), and the trans temperature never exceeded 140F according to the ScanGageII.

I love my AWD Astro, even though it is an inanimate object, and loving an inanimate object is positively irrational.

Tried that today. Door locks still function randomly (sometimes they lock/unlock fully, sometimes I only get half clicks out of them...) lame...

Maybe the door lock switches are the problem.

Possibly but, both of them? On the other hand, I suppose its as likely as all the door lock actuators going out at the same time... Honestly that's why I was so excited when I read here about the old lubricant getting sticky and causing problems, I figured it made sense with the way the door locks act - as though all the actuators were weak.

Anyway, its not too big a deal, I've had many cars without power locks in the past, so if its not a free and easy fix, I'm not going to bother.

On my old car (also a GM) the power locks started getting flakey, and eventually quit altogether. The problem ended up being a cracked connection on a circuit board the switch was mounted to. So I just soldered on a bypass and they worked like new.

On my 94 the wires from body to door had cracked and would cause the locks to malfunction.

Exactly. The raised part in the floor I realized were actually heater vents to the rear. So, now we have a little more venting through the floor. [-X

The dog house is good for a mutlitude of thing. I think it will work well for other, um, douche bag avoidance measures. :swords:
