new van day - 2004 Astro cargo aquired.

Post by justice »

I went and checked it out and took it for a test drive. You would never guess that this van has 191000 miles on it. Clean 1 owner carfax with nearly complete service records. 1 owner fleet vehicle that looks to have belonged to a company that did service on high end dental or medical equipment. It needs a little work, new rear door handle and gas access door. Maybe a new rear bumper in the future. It drives great, the engine is smooth and quiet, the steering is tight, the tranny shifts as it should, the A/C works!!!! The brakes work great. It has good tires and with the exception of the bottom of the rear doors, the body is in great shape and very straight. The seats do not have any rips or tears and are nice and comfy as well. Aftermarket radio, but thats no big deal. No tilt or cruise control, but also NBD. Four good Firestone tires.

It needs a good cleaning inside and out and i need to take the shelvs and drawers out of the back. The cargo divider is staying in though.

Current plans coming up are to replace the radio with one that has an mp3 input, "panda" the front end and put a black stripe down both sides and install my black taillights that I have had forever and never installed. (i hope they fit).

and now a few "i just got it home and have not done anything with it yet pics"

did some more cleaning and stuff on the new van... pics, everybody loves pics...I went to the salvage yard today and managed to find a new fuel filler door and double the luck, it was already white! The same van has a rear bumper that is im much better shape than mine.I may go back and get it.

Some shots of the drivers compartment...its hard to believe those seats have 191000 miles on them. The only thing that really shows any serious wear is the steering wheel.

I also changed out the stock tail light lenses for some that i bought for a different van several years ago but never used. I think they look great on the soild white van..

The rear doors are the only spot there is any serious body damage. I may get them fixed, I may not. I'll probably go get an estimate from some body shops.

after all the problems I had with electric windows, i WANTED crank windows...

I'm not sure what that thing is, but something had been mounted there probably by the company that leased the van. i'm going to pull the steering column covers and see about removing it.
