Not to worry. Even though I have the means at my disposal, I'm just too scared to do so and too smart to put that kind of burden on my friends and family.

On to bigger and better things...

I attended a Job Fair today at the state employment office. 2 hours later, I got a phone call for an interview! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Wish me luck!

I must be doing SOMETHING different. This morning, I got a phone call from one of the many temp agencies I'm signed to. They told me they might have a position for me. Is it my new aftershave?

Good luck CS. I too am in pretty much the same spot. I've been working maintenance for the past 10 years, 5 years of it as a supervisor. I got laid off in January due to cut backs. Now I stressing every day about the bills and such. I've been looking for a job every day. I've had a few call backs (Home Depot and an apartment complex), but I was either classed as over qualified (what a load of garbage that is) or it ended up being a scam (the apartment complex).
I'm hitting the depression mode often. It came to a point where I started taking it out on my family. That's not good.

I am, though, on unemployment. I am going to have to get rid of cable, internet, and phone, through comcast, to save what I can and make up for the other bills. I will go crazy without internet and thinking about going to at&t since it'd be cheaper.

Yes, I have thought about suicide, more than once. If it wasn't for my wife and son being with me, well, I may not be here either. I still feel they'd be better off without me though.

Once again, good luck to you. You'll pull out of it, just as I will. It may take a little bit of time and we might lose some things in the process, but we got to have faith. Just keep your head up as high as you possibly can. I know it's hard to do at this point, but you can't let things get you down, I can't either.

Yeah, I, too, love (?) hearing "over qualified." If I'm overqualified (which, most of the time, I am), why am I applying for this piddly job? Chances are good that I'll stick with it and surprising you, if you'd only give me the chance.

I've found that some heart-to-heart talks with the Pastor and Him seem to help. You might want to try that, if you're not doing so already.

Well, one job interview that I hoped I did well on sent me a very nice "Thanks, but no thanks" letter. It was only 5 blocks away! Had a second interview at Sears and Sawbucks this afternoon for another department and had to rattle the cage of another company that kept deleting my e-mailed resume without reading. Seems the targeted individual had his Junk Mail folder set too high.

But this also follows me stepping on an insulin vial without knowing it. I heard a POP and when I examined my foot, I found the top of the bottle impaled in my foot. Saw the doc at the clinic today, who wants to see me again on Tuesday as a follow-up. My neuropathy is that severe.

The temp position, too, did not pan out. Afterwards, I went to another one and raked them over the coals. I asked them why they didn't call me for that listing. They looked up my file and saw that it said that I prefer nights. That doesn't mean that I won't accept a day assignment! Sheesh! Gotta slap 'em around a bit and keep 'em in line!

I average 5-6 applications DAILY! I have this sneaking suspicion that my last company isn't playing fair.

Speaking of fair, I'm still fighting for my unemployment. I asked for a redetermination; the old company was given until last Friday (22Apr) to reply. As of today (28Apr), no such luck. So it may be in my favour! (Please, please, please, please? [-o< [-o< [-o< [-o< ). That would mean about $2500 shekels coming my way some time soon.

Cap, every time I see your signature i choke up,

For years, as long as I can remember I have considered myself a patriot of sorts, honor the flag, the service, the men and our freedoms so many take for granted. The past few years I have become,,, disgusted I think would be the best word, with our leadership and where we are going as a whole. I don't believe a vet should ever be unemployed unless he so desired it. A vet with an honourable discharge should be kicked to the head of the line when applying for a job he is qualified even over-qualified for, if the case may be. If a guy or gal can't do the job, fine, I'll fire them vet or no but I firmly believe what you and other servicemen have given us is worth, at the very least, first shot. This is just one of many things I've seen in the recent that really piss me off and I needed to say so.

Thanks Captain,
Bruce

Some good news for a change.

I GOT A JOB! :bounce: It's at Taco Bell, but it's a job. Any income is better than all outgo. When I got home, there was a message on my machine from another JOB OFFER!

I guess I'm back on the road to recovery.
