Scangauge II, UltraGuage and DashCommand, oh my...

Post by tribri1 »

Who's using what? I sucked it up and bought an iPhone a few months ago and would love to use that, but I'm not so sure about buying a $150 OBD 2 wireless plug to be able to read engine performance on the phone when I can do it for less with UltraGuage.

Here are the sites:
http://www.ultra-gauge.com/
http://www.scangauge.com/
http://www.plxkiwi.com/

Here are the apps:

What are you using, what do you like?

Using the ScanGauge II - Love it.

I like that it's dedicated - there all the time, which means it accurately tracks mileage on the tank, all the trip data, etc.

Remember that anything that uses your iPhone to do the processing will not be accurate for tank mileage, etc. unless you are conscientious about using it for EVERY trip.

Scangauge II mounted in my dash. Love it.

I use it to monitor fuel consumption, distance, time, trans temp etc
It also lets you compensate for non-stock size tires or gearing so you can get accurate speed and odometer readings.

I have a SG2 and an UG. Both work quite well. The UG has a better display, but the SG2 has a better interface.

Thanks for the comments, i must admit I am a sucker for the fancy iPhone graphics. Scangauge looks like a great option. I like how it fits in a half din slot as well. My dream is a stereo, navigation system that plugs into the OBD as well to make an all in one unit. I'll keep dreaming for now, but think it will happen one of these days.

I love my SGII, unfortunately my 07 Charger does not. Since I plugged it in, its been throwing a bs code (U3FFF) and not a stealerhip has been able to diagnose it

That said, it does track things very well, and it may go in my Astro anyways. (Again, see charger hating it, mainly because of MDS)

I mainly use it to read and reset engine codes tho

Google has been no help, and I will look into this more, but off the top of your heads anyone know why my scanguage is not working? Hopefully its just a fuse somewhere, but last time I removed the doghouse a few months ago, I lost the 2 power ports by the passenger side feet of the glove box, and the scanguage is getting no power, do they share a connection?

I have it off now for other reasons and will investiagte when I have time, but if anyone knows and can save me trouble its appreciated.

Fuse is good, though now that I am putting it back together I see this cord on the left which I dont know where it goes, so assume this is the culprit, can any provide any help here?

Is that the ground to the engine cover? There may be a open connector right on top.
