Sliding door noise

Post by Binky »

I have a 2002 Astro and the sliding door is very noisey over bumps. It seems tight but once you start driving you can hear it banging like its loose in the track. I dont recall anything like this with my 1995. Any suggestions?

Thanks Chris

i had a similar problem with my 1987 Safari, the slider door always seemed to be shut tight but would rattle like crazy over bumps and stuff.

I fixed it by replacing the rear shocks (of which the passenger side was completely shot....)

I have a ban hammer and I ain't fraid to use it!

Similar story here. Had a rattling that seemed to come from doors. Turns out the top bolts on the rear shocks like to come loose. They are really long.

Its funny you both said that as I was thinking the rear shocks may need changing but never thought they might be causing the noise. Thanks again and I will let you know if it fixes my problem.

I changed the shocks and the van seem much quieter but I feel like the side door has more rattle then my 95. Any other suggestions?

Thanks Chris

Did you check all the moving parts for looseness?
