Where to buy pitman arm

Post by oldewrench »

I have been trying to find a pitman arm for my 99 GMC AWD Safari with no luck. Does anyone have any part #'s? Suppliers? Thanks for the help.

I almost agreed w/ Gary out of hand but the rock does not have a pitman arm listed. You need a pitman arm??? What happened to the old one? They don't wear and I have a hard time imagining one of these to break. Lost it on the bench?

I'd go to the jy or try junkyarddog.com.

http://www.RockAuto.com doesn't list a Pitman arm.

It's very rare that the Pitman arm needs to be replaced. What leads you to wanting to replace it?

Checking a couple sites it appears that they used the same steering components for the entire run of AWD vans (1990-2005). I've found a few used ones using http://www.Car-Part.com, but you should be able to find one at a local scrap yard.

Advance Auto, AutoZone and other auto parts stores offer the special loaner tools that you'll need to remove it. You'll need the either the pickle fork kit or front end service kit and the pitman arm puller kit.

I think you might be talking about the idler arms that bolt to the frame. If so you can get them at any parts shop but do not buy the oem part. When it comes to steering parts you want moog they are the best on the market.
