Odd Problem

Post by alexalexanders »

Ok odd problem here. Yesterday while i was merging into traffic i had to floor the van(idiot driver) and then slam on the brakes for a red light, problem was as i am coming to a stop the van starts running terriable. SES light comes on, its barely running i tap the gas it dies. Put it in park and it wont start back for about two or three tries< then it fires up but is idling REALLY high, like i had the pedal pushed down a little. Its running fine besides the high idle, the ses lights off and when i drive away it runs fine. :-k

Stopped and bought some fuel injector cleaner just in case and drove it another 25 miles and it ran great. Today on the way home when i pull to a light it starts misfiring but not even close to a bad as previous day. Any ideas on whats the problem? Oh btw van has new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil <all ac delco, and a new wix fuel filter. The fuel pump also delphi has about 24k on it and is roughly 1.5 yrs old

What year is your van a little more info will help. It sounds like a fuel problem since you seem to have done the ignition system.
1999 Safari Touring edition.
trailer tow pack with a 3:73 posi
Bucket bench seats, Rear heat, Rear Airconditioning.
teal green
300 000 kms
AirRide air bags in the rear to fix soft stock suspension.

I would check all the ignition wires to make sure one isn't loose. Could also be a chunk of carbon in the EGR valve. That will make it idle like crap but run ok at speed.
