Power Window Diagnosis help

Post by Rileysowner »

Here is the problem. The driver's side power window is doing the following. It goes down just fine, but when I try to put it up it will close a short amount and then stop. If I wait a minute or so, it will go up a little more, and so on and so on until it is closed. My concern is that I will open it sometime and not be able to close it.

My guess is that it is the motor, but I am open to suggestions of what else it could be as the only person listing the motor on e-bay.ca seems to only ship via UPS and wants more money for shipping than the part. Not to mention that with UPS I would get hit with a huge brokerage charge for customs that would probably be more than the part and shipping combined.

Finally, anyone have a good source for a power window motor that will ship using USPS?

My local parts store had the motor in stock when I replaced mine....

This should help when it comes time to replace the motor:

Have you checked the wiring harness within the door jam? Had the same problem with my passenger window. Replaced the motor from NAPA(@40) still the same and I did check wires first. dug deeper into the door jam harness and sure as hell there was 2 wires bared inside the jam. What a deal that was fixing. Nearly had to take the door off for access because no slack given for this harness whatsoever. Oh well learned something new and now have a spare motor. lol

Your most likely going to have to pull your door panel anyways,so check your switch when you do,it may just have a poor connection,if not then go on to the wires and motor.
