RIP Astro

Post by BC-Astro »

Astro's Transmission failed - lost second gear and reverse ...

Replaced the Astro with a Fiat 500

Bye bye Astro - you served us well :prayer:

At some time in the future give us an update on how you like the Fiat. I've looked at them. My wife needs a small commuter car. The 500 is being considered.

Why not get the tranny rebuilt? I spent $2500 on my 92 Safari to get the tranny rebuilt and she runs like a top.

Tranny wasn't the only problem ...
Few more issues like - brakes, airco, heating, front suspension & steering etc.
and last but not least the poor gas mileage

What did you do with your Astro?

I recently parted with my 92 Astro, it still drove and I got 10 cents a pound at a local salvage yard.

I noticed that you were smart enough to sell the cat off separately. I was lucky to drive the Astro 7 miles to the scrap yard. A week before my upper ball joint went, fortunately it was in my garage.

My van weighed in at 5000 lbs, I loaded it up with my old Bobcat snow blower, snow plow blade and some scrap re-bar. Good to get all the unused metal out of the way. Unfortunately since the Astro's gone I won't be able to load the replacement SUV up like that.
