Hi guys, quick question to anyone who might know.
Is the extended intermediate steering shaft required for a 4" lift on a 98 van?
I am transferring my lift kit from a 94 to a 98 van, I have the shaft but the original instructions for fitment and indeed 'Overlands' current listing for the shaft both quote 'for 90 - 95'.
Maybe the 98's shaft is long enough? It would save what looks to be a slighly awkward job on the 98 if it is not required, but I'll be guided by those in the know.
Thanks
Shep

Re: Extended intermediate steering shaft ?
Just finished a 4" body lift in front with pucks. Remove the steering shaft, cut it and weld a 5" piece of angle iron onto both ends with at least 1" of the angle iron welded onto the cut shaft. If you cannot weld, take the shaft to a welding shop and tell them what you want to do. You will have to extend the power steering line running from the Hydro Boost unit to the pump. I used two 3/8" compression fittings and a piece of 3/8" copper tubing. Also, you may need to relocate the power steering fluid resevoir lower, or replace the hose.

Well thanks for the swift reply but I think you have misunderstood the question.

I have this part, do I need to fit it to a 98 van with a 4" lift? The literature suggests 90 - 95vans.
Cheers

We have had a member that found s full size shaft is a fit and long enough.Like the newer Chevy express vans.
Btw-I do not recommend solid welding those slide shafts. There in there for front end crashes. It's apart of the crush zone.
