Yep, back to being peppy.

log in and no data

Post by Merlin »

Last night I couldn't get on the forum at all. It took several tries and it finally came up with this error message " The document contains no data" It did that again this morning after trying to get on and after several tries I finally did get on but it forgot my log in and I had to log on even though this has happened several times and yes each time I check the box to log on automatically. The site owners, and yes I know they said they are working on it, really need to figure out what is wrong being really slow and now this too. Any way I thought I would tell you about the error message as that is a new thing to me and it has happened twice now. Love the site when I can get on it and can get around on it.
1989 RS Astro, V-8 and maybe a shift it myself tranny, still deciding on this one. Dutch doors, Cad tail lights, shaving the rest now. 12 bolt rear end was in the van when I got it but changing how it sets to lower.

Not peppy at all.
Not as bad as some days.
Slow enough to be a PITA.

Sunday 2:15pm Eastern Daylight Saving Time
Been real peppy for many days.
Started out peppy around 1:30.
Slowed to a crawl.
Takes a long time to "post".

I'm seeing slowness still on a daily basis. Some times I log on and it is quick enough, but other times it isn't. (I'm on here 2-3 times a day.)

There is still a problem. If this host can't fix it, it may be time to move.....

PAINFULLY SLOW AT 2PM PST!!!!!

I really want to see this site grow, but I can't blame anybody who skips posting here when it takes 2-3 minutes for a page to load.

If the current host hasn't fixed it yet, it is time to move.....

I have to say I agree. Although I do post here, it is almost always sluggish, and sometimes is painfully slow. If it takes them this long to fix this, then I would hate to see how they handle a major problem.

Yeah, the speed is really hit or miss. Often it'll start out fast, but then begin to creep as I try to read other postings. It's maddening and I usually won't wait if the board gets slow.

ok, i have not been seeing near as many slowdowns as we were having, that does not mean that they aren't happening, just that they are not happening when i'm checking the site.

Now, that being said, the hosting is paid for until November 29th, so if the site moves to another host, it will be in November.

Currently the host has completed the MySQL server upgrades and is going to roll out MySQL 5 (current version is 4 something) and they say that version 5 should take care of the problems we have been seeing since it can handle more requests and handle them better. The rollout of MySQL 5 is supposed to start on Monday the 13th. They will be doing it one server at a time ( i know they have at least 12 MySQL servers) and they will be starting the upgrades with number 12 (we're on number 10)

I'll post a note when they email me that they are doing the upgrade.

If the new upgrades do not solve the problem, then in the first of November i'll start looking for another host and move the site.

The last few days when I've logged on, the site has been PAINFULLY slow.

The host has had plenty of time to fix this, so there is no excuse for us to not move this site when the term is up.

NO WAFFLING ON THIS! MAKE THE SWITCH!
