Would love to see a pic of your pipe bender.

You seem to be right about where you should be with a van your yr like everyone else.Given those averages Jim,my question is,do you want to reconsider the over inflated tires??.Just my two cents worth bud. :-k

I wouldn't buy one new, but for $10...
Should come in handy for my next cage build.
Hauled a set of wheels and slicks to get mounted to and from the tire shop yesterday.

This morning I'm loading bikes to go for a ride on the Wieser River Trail a bit later.

Swapped out my transmission with one from an OLDs Bravada. Exactly the same bell housing to tailshaft. Only took me 6 hours (my first time.)

Not to bad.

This was on friday. Then saturday i gassed her up and drove to the Big PX. 180 miles one way.

The way there a raised my city mileage (on the trip computer) from 16 to 18.. Gassed up there ad on the way back (trip and computer reset) averaged 20.1.

not bad. Wondering how much my burnt clutches were really hurting my mileage after all.

Now i have to replace all the exhaust gaskets as it sounds like a harley with strait pipes.

SOrry but my camera is in the shop or i would have taken pictures of the swap. Pretty strait forward.

Now ... rebuid the old tranny or toss it and keep the deep pan...???

I Keep saying the best part of an Astro, is hauling home all the good finds.
Today, I found a good deal, and picked up a 140 HP Johnson Outboard motor for one of my boats.
The astro played a starring role as always and hauled it up the long hill to home, no probs.
My boat I like for some same reasons as my astro, light on gas and roomy.

finally got around to cleaning and fitting the headlining that i found at the breakers yard.

My van is an old Zimmer conversion, at some point in its life, all of the conversion cloth trim will have separated form the side panels and i guess the ceiling, when i got it, someone had fitted a piece of 8x4 thin plywood (painted white) in there as a headliner!...damn i hated it, so now that its a cargo van with some of the original Zimmer rear consoles still in place (holding rear speakers otherwise they would be OUT!), i have a nice matching blue headliner up front and have left the plywood in the rear.

I even managed to find another safari passenger van with one of the rear over head courtesy lights, modded it slightly to fit in the cut-out of my new headliner...a happy chap I am!
