I sanded & painted the roof of my GT with a roller & flat black.
It was fading and disappearing, so it needed something before it turned rusty...
I'll re-coat it tomorrow.

The stuff used on RV roofs is Snow Roof Systems. That is a rubber coating that I think is warranted for 25 yrs and is a roll on after primer. It is good looking after applied too.Just a thought because we know how the paint peals on some of the Astros.

So I went out in the morning and was pleased to see about 5 thousand mosquito's all stuck by the feet in the paint. :yikes:

They all looked so cute with thier little wings buzzing away like that, :muhaha: I wondered if the van might lift up, \:D/ but no.

I sanded them all off and gave it a couple of more coats, before the evening bug parade... :partyman:

Replaced both idler arms, one torsion bar, replaced inner and outer tie rod ends, put on new front and rear shocks and air filter. Getting alignment done by shop Thursday. Already it runs much better....much tighter and more stable.

Past couple days I've been dealing with this on my wife's Jeep.

That was the front differential. Got her Jeep all set up in 2WD mode, only to find the battery kicked off.

Yesterday, I had a spare tire carrier show up in the mail for Grumpy.

Hey, I happen to like her Jeep. She just happened to get into it a little too hard in the mud and spinning wheels found traction sending a shock load through the system. Aluminum diff housings suck, doesn't matter who makes them. I've popped one open in Grumpy. Luckily a steel upgrade is available for her Jeep.

i was going to ask how that happened

98: removed rear brakes, pulled axles and removed old diff and inspected ring gear

Ring gear was in good shape better then my front one actually but the actually open diff had pitting in the gears

98:moved ring gear to new diff (those damn bolts are reverse thread holding the ring gear to carrier beware) and mounted in what i believe is the correct alignment (have to wait for the to sun come back up to check that and reshim properly) switched my 9 inch backing plates to 11's. still a lot to do before i can drive it and only one evening left....... doyoulikeithere, I marvel at the quiet, beautiful view in your videos, and I hear how relaxed your voice is. I envy you sometimes.

*(&^$%* Rogers is laying me off next month. Image.

In the meantime, I'm heading up to Princeton for the weekend to camp by the river with the boys. Hafta take advantage of our yearly week of sun. It's going to be my turn to relax. :D

At 84000 miles, I changed the rear diff fluid, apparently for the first time, judging from the fluid color and gasket condition. When I first bought the van in February, 2009, I had the local stealership change all the fluids, so I thought. GM flushed them in the Great Stealership Reduction during the bankruptcy. Good riddance. I would have done it myself, except for the Michigan winter.

There was no debris on the magnet. It is an open diff - no G80. Would it be worth it to find the parts to add one when I rebuild this (or a donor 3.42 rear end)?

The rear end is a bit noisier than I would like. We loaded it up with music gear and guitars for a family reunion in upstate New York the week before last. I think it is getting close to wheel bearing time.
