Bikehauler and I were never allowed to drive our fathers cars once we passed our driving test.
For my 2 kids we told them that how ever much they saved for a car we would kick in the same amount.

My son got a 89 Caprice that was a sofa on wheels.
2 tone brown.
A real granny's car.
"But daddy !!! It's not a chick magnet !!!

The first time it was in the body shop was for front sheet metal. His fault.
The next time it was in the body shop was for front sheet metal. Not his fault.
The next time it was in the body shop was for front sheet metal. Not his fault.
The next time it was in the body shop was to get it painted all black. His $$$.

My daughter got a 95 Grand Prix which I am now driving as well as my 90 Astro.
Her brother bought her a used 98 Cavalier.
Great gas mileage.
She does not take care of cars.

Well if that was here in BC ... it would have been an Asian dude and would have fleed ... :p Typical headlines doesnt even make it into the news.
