This old timer has one problem with the 305, the cost is the same for parts to rebuild. Now if you have the block and that is all you had to work with then by all means build it. BUT if you have to buy the block why spend the same ammount of money on a 305 as you will a 350 and wind up with that much less power? The old saying there is no Replacement for Displacement. I too have build a few engines, among them 305, 307 and I am ashamed to admit a 301 among them. Now as Mark said he has many of the parts already so it would be silly of him to start all over. But if your startin from scratch I just cant see putin the mony into a 305, a 327 or 283 would be a neat build. But thats just my 2cents.
