You knew I did not have a vice as a spring compressor...so you just HAD to post a pic of your HUGE vice.

Was the bushing getting cracked when you set it in the hole and the retaining sleeve just finished the break?

Just wondering.

Glad you were able to get it all to work OK now.
I was told getting my beauty sleep was a waste of time.

No, it wasn't cracking, it practically fell in the hole. It was when the clip on the pin went through that it got broke. I think the clip may have been messed up because the new pin went in fine with no problems.
Sorry about the vice pic, it is a trick I learned from my 2nd gen camaro board years back...those bushing get replaced every few years with those heavy doors!

Just a little reminder when installing or removing the door spring. Need to be real carefull with this thing. It will do a number on ya. Don't let it get away from ya. Don't just pop it out with a screwdriver,,hold on with a rag or something when removing and replacing it and wear safety glasses, especially when compressing in vice and wiring it and during replacement. If it's not in the correct location when you cut the wire you could be wearing it on some part of your body. ](*,)
