I joined both forums around the same time. At first, I primarily went there because it seemed more active, but the answers I was getting were either unhelpful or just plain wrong (even from senior members). I was constantly being hit over the head with all kinds of rules. The last straw was when I found out the admin installed a forum mod so he could read people's PM's, and people who were criticizing the heavy handed moderating were being silenced. Moderators there have a secret section where they go to talk shite about other members. And yes I was a moderator there once. They liked me until I started asking too many questions.

Over here you definitely get quality over quantity. The atmosphere is more mature and respectful.

Hmm, that may be how I got busted. :muhaha:

(I was busted regarding a PM I'd sent suggesting someone check out this site. I figured the guy I sent it to must have ratted me out.)

Timelessbeing. All forums are designed with a separate Mod rm of some sort to discuss matters about the forum out of sight.

As far as what goes on AS,your here and what goes on over there doesn't matter.

A history of how this site came about to date,I can think of five people who are well equipped to provide that is Justice,AstroZam,Lifted,Lockdoc,Firecakes. In my mind they set the conner stone of the site.(s)

I was around on the old site before it crashed repeatedly. Joined here from the start, and when the new owner purchased the old site I never went back.

It was some newbie over there. Don't even remember who it was or if they ever showed up over here. I usually would try and invite new faces that seemed like they would be a good addition over here.

There is another thread on this board from about 2-3 weeks ago asking why there are 2 van sites and how this one got started. If you read my post it basicly sums up the whole story about how this board came to be.

I just got sick of it crashing my first post here was the how to open your rear doors after the handle breaks. I had posted it on the old AS board 5 times and it ate the post everytime. Finally I wrote it up in word and saved it to my computer so I could just cut and paste it because it vanished in the crashes and wouldn't post.

I went and tried the new board when Austin took over but after a while of the moderators over there I just got tired and left. It was at the same time that Mdmead got the big boot off the board. I think he went as Saskvan over there as well as a couple of other names after he got labled "site pest". I thought that was poor on the moderators behalf to pull a stunt like that. You might not like someone but there are better ways to deal with them than trying a stupid stunt like that.

In fact, that is exactly what the hack was installed for. The admin is paranoid about new members leaving to another site. As well he should be, but he's going about it all the wrong way.

I was at the old site for a few years then it started crashing a lot and then I got a message about this site and came here.
I miss one thing about the old site and that is it had a place where we could post our ideas, kinda like a notepad thing. When the new people took over I just stopped going there. Anyone know what happen to Peter (smurf)?
If he is here what name does he go by?

I too started on there till the crashing issues, then joined the old guard over here. I stayed away from the other site for some time cause I too was ticked about it being sold, but I lurked. I finally joined cause I saw a user getting bad advice about fuel pumps and couldn't stand it. I've been in trouble for Rule 6B a couple times, whatever.
