i ended up going to mr. transmission, and learned the following. When cottman "rebuilt" my tranny chances are they just fixed what was broke. did not fix the original culprit which is the hard shift. i wouldn't mind the shift issue if it were meant to do that. i know i'm going to end up in the same boat at some point. i wish there was a way to figure out what they did do to the tranny. they (cottman) are saying it is probably a computer issue making the van do this. i don't know what to do with this other than keep bending over and taking it, like any regular joe would do. unfortunatley, my only option is to buy a programmer and try to fix this myself. at $400 it's kinda hard to swallow.

any suggestions? I still owe cottman $400, mind you i've had my van back to them 4 times so far with NO satisfaction! i'm out of options

If they are not going to make the correct repair, I would file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and also look at a small claims court proceeding. They should be making it right no matter what!

i thought about reporting them, but when i looked up the buisness on registry of joint stocks, they were'nt listed. anyways, i've got new problems now

coming home from work today, and just picture this.....you're driving along just crusin', and when you let off the gas to coast, then reapply a small amount of throttle the van "surges" ahead. a few times it seems as though something was slipping. the engine would rev up a bit, then calm down. is this the tourque converter? this is getting pretty crazy. i know that the van didn't do this before the "rebuild". what is going on here??????????????

i finally broke down and called GM for advice. (not mechanically broke down)

they told me that they could indeed tear the tranny apart and tell me what cottman did, or didn't do. i also inquired on the possiblity of reprogramming the tranny, apparently that isn't an option. so for $150 give or take, they can tell me what is going on. from what i told them on the phone, their tranny specialist said that there is no way that this is a electrical issue, and that there is a mechanical issue in the tranny.
