I like how it can move sideways. It would make parallel parking really easy.

That is pretty cool but it looks like an old Plymouth with a different front clip.
A long time ago a co-worker of mine started building heavy duty light trucks for the forest and mining industries.
They were Ford based and kind of looked like a small Kenworth with a pick-up box, he called it a Grizzly. His plant was based out of North Vancouver and I recall seeing a few around town at the time.
They were expen$ive and never really became popular.

Peter

Apparently he's still in business, here's his website...

Those sound like very cool trucks, but that's not a company website, just an article about them. It seems the owner died in '96. It doesn't sound like the trucks are being made any more.

Jeff Buck was the guy I used to work with back in the 80's in the Queen Charlotte Islands. He was a mechanic for the company we worked for. I ran into him again at one of my kids hockey games in the 90's. They don't really say who it was that died though, they just say it was the owner.

Drove 5,000km across Australia on $10 (for electricity from the grid).
"They ultimately ran 2,480 km on wind power, 480 km on kite power, and 2,100 km on electricity."
