Isn't it clearly time for a V8 or diesel swap?

Get rid of the truck and buy a later model. Or, and this one is more fun, stick a 305 or 350 in there. It'll prolly cost the same. Logan made out like a bandit with his last or 2nd to last swap. Actually made money after selling off the v6 and the donor truck.

tbhager-nice to hear you got it running.
If you decide to replace it soon, I need an engine part if you'd be willing to consider selling one. I have an '89 Astro RWD with a 4.3, A/C no smog pump. I need the bracket that bolts to the front of the engine (the A/C compressor bracket, alternator, and power steering pump all attach to this bracket). I know there are several configurations to this bracket (mine has the A/C on the top passenger side, alternator on the top driver's side) so I will try to get a picture of what I need.
If anyone else happens to have one, please give me a shout! Thanks!

If you can figure out transportation, I have a good 94, 4.3l setting in my garage. I hate waste so i've been fretting over what to do with it. I can't give it to you but I will make you a great deal.

I've been trying to find a full size truck with a bad motor to put it in and have an offer on a 94 K2500 5.7L (see 6.5L Diesel post) that I will put it into. I know people here think i'm nuts.

Let me know......

i think that you should just go ahead and pull the oil pan check the damage it would be easier and quicker than pulling the motor since you don't have a awd.

TB-I'm going to come down on ya kind of hard.Look with that kind of damage you can not nor should you try to do "patch work" repairs.Take it out of the van man.Look at the whole engine and what got hurt without oil.Refresh the whole thing.Do what you can now to try to save money for the job.The bottom line-do it right the first time and drive it for more miles than you got on it now.Why am I saying it like this??.Well it's family here and your part of that.
