Stuck proportioning valve?

Post by Mr_Roboto »

A while back I did a brake job up front, put new pads and rotors on, ever since the pedal pretty much goes to the floor. I hate to think I may be trying to make something of something that isn't, but what are the chances I have a stuck proportioning valve? I've bled the system a few times, and it seems to "pump up" a little. I'm wondering if it's gotten stuck because of pushing the pistons on the calipers in with a C-clamp. Anyone ever pull one apart and clean it at all?

I've not heard of the P-valve sticking. I would think if it is your braking would be the rear would be locking up of not working at all.

I used to to push the pistons back in but have opted to hook up a bleeder hose and let it go in that direction. Much easier. Then I add new fluid to the tank. Kinda like a partial fluid exchange.

Which kind of brake system do you have?

It definitely should not go to the floor,my bet's on there is still some air in the system.
Looking at the procedure for disassembling and cleaning the caliper (95) doesn't look all that difficult, let me know if you want that info.
