Well Guys I had just about every detail of my LT1 swap posted on A/S .com but it has been lost in the recent crash. I still have all of the pictures I have taken of it so in time I will try to put it all back together in a step by step method. It is going to be hard to remember all of what I had written but I will try to get it posted soon.

I thought this was the only thread about your swap? I know you didn't start it, but there are pics of yours there.

EDIT: The original link is no longer active, zam

I have a few Questions an a LT1 swap on my 98 Astro. The Donor is a 95 wagon with Iron heads and 49,000 miles on it. The wagon has digital dash and Pass key lock cylinder, will the wiring hook up to my analog dash and do I pull the pass key module go with the swap or has anyone had luck finding a resistor for the key?

AstroJoe,

Looks like I have a change of plans and fell upon a sweet LT1 that I just can't let go. So rather than building up a 350, I am going with the LT1. I really could use some info on your install. I PM'ed you, lets talk if you have some time. (95 TA transplant)

What's everyone doing with the Anti-lock brakes on a swap? I haven't seen the connector on the 98 Astro controller but I think it is different.

My anti lock brakes don't work and I wish I knew how to fix that. On the '98 'Stro there is 3 seperate wires going from the odometer, cruse control, and Anti lock brakes to three posts on the puter. On the '99 Trans-Am donor, those three go to just one post on the puter so I hooked all the "Stro wires to that one post and the cruse and odometer are good but no ABS. There is continuity to the ABS so it must not be sending / recieving the signal it expects.

I'm this close to tearing into a perfectly good 98 to install the LT1 but the only thing is the ABS. I was wondering if I could use the controller from the 95 Caprice, it has 5 brake lines. Should I use the fuse, relay box from the caprice or tie the wiring from the LT1 into the Astros fuse box?

OK whose lame A$$ idea was it to put a V8 into an Astro van in the first place? And for those of you who were wondering if a 95 LT1 out of a Caprice wagon will fit a 98 Astro, it doesn't. The front body mounts are about 2" away because the floor is sitting on the exhaust Manifolds. The Alternator is on the HVAC box. I know, now I need the $300.00 headers and remove the heater box, it was ugly anyway. I thought I got away easy, rented the Hoist yesterday and have it all weekend for one days rental.

Could a 2" body lift help with the clearance problems?.After all it at the very least help with spark plug changes later on.Just a thought.
