Possibility of bad fuel pump on my GF's Malibu. Instead of paying $250 and dropping the tank for a new ACDelco pump with fuel sending unit and all the plastic stuff, why not buy a new FI Tech frame mount pump from Summit for a hundred bucks, splice it into the fuel line ahead of the tank using high pressure hose and multiple FI clamps, and transfer the pump power wire to it?
Fuel pressure spec is 50-55 with the stock pump. I dunno about yous guys, but I'm tired of paying big bucks for a bunch of plastic stuff when only the pump is bad! There's gotta be a better way on a car of only $1500 value!
Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi,

The one thing good about the I tank pump is that is stays cooler. Also I imagine it self primes better since it is immersed in liquid.

The sad thing I noticed on my 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix is that there is no external fuel filter . Wow.'

Thank God most fuel is pretty clean.
