2003 Astro, lost in fire.....

Post by justice »

New Years Eve, my wife and I were just leaving a friends house at about 1:30am when her cell phone rang. It was our neighboor across the street telling us that our friends Gary and Mary's van was on fire in their driveway.... by the time we got home the fire had spread to the front of their garage but was pretty much contained there. The van of course is a total loss and they will be out of thier house for a while. Nobody hurt so thats a good thing. Anyway, since I was out getting pics of the cluster in my 87 I walked down the street and got some pics of the 03 still sitting in his driveway. Amazingly, the tires are still in tact and the gas tank did not explode. In a couple of the pics you will see what is left of his golf clubs in the ashes.

Its believed that the fire started because the horn shorted and was going off for a long time. anyway, on to the pics.

Sorry about their loss. I was going to suggest getting some parts, but guess not. Motor/tranny could be salvagable

what state is that in? I will watch for it in the insurance auction and let you know what it sells for... my estimate is about $100 bucks.

Man another one bites the dust. At least the garage didn't catch and no one was hurt.

If you can it would be awsome, no biggy if you can't...

it is the piece that is missing in this picture that wraps behind the rear bumper, and the piece that is still there that goes to the back of the rear wheelwell.... my delivery guy scraped that piece on a poll this morning and wrecked it... I can send you few bucks for your time and shipping, just let me know.

It's pretty scary that an electrical short could cause. Too bad a fuse or circuit breaker trip couldn't avoid it. Wonder if there will be any recalls from this?

Glad to hear nobody was injured.
