Post by ScoobyDoo82 »

This is my 1989 Chevy Astro Starcraft. It has 142,500 miles. It looks horrible now because I haven't washed it yet but Im sure with a good car wash it will look better...

Super sweet for a free van.

Your power windows and locks issues may be in the wiring between the body and doors. They like to crack and break there.

I'd lose the running board on the drivers side instead of replacing the one on the passenger side. Currently the passenger side just looks cleaner to without it.

If it were my van, I'd get a better looking spare to hang of the back and remove the chrome roof rack too.

Looking forward to see what you do with it.

Looks good. Really good for free.

I would loose the running boards as well. Especially that style the aluminum ones tend to cause alot of rocker rot. BTDT with my suburban.

I will, its an eyesore I know. When I do get another spare though i'll be putting it underneath the 3rd row seat because when you hit bumps the spare tire bounces and squeaks when it rubs against the door and it really annoying.

Also, about the power locks, they do work, my sister said they didnt but they do. Im almost positive that the passenger window has a blown motor because the drivers side works fine. There are some other electrical issues and when I get a chance I'll upload videos of them and put them on YouTube so you guys have a better understanding and maybe you could help.

Peter, you've only seen half of the mess...

I can't JUST blame my sister, her husband drives it too but still, a layer of garbage is just retarded.

As for the running boards, I really want to keep them, but I'll take the other one off and see how I like it if I do, I'll leave it off if not, I'll go get one for the passenger side.

I just took this pic today... I thought it looked cool :)

Believe me, I've seen worse. My wife doesn't keep her truck real clean either. Once in a while I take it and give it a good clean out.

Good luck on your van, this is the place to find out all you need to know.

Im hoping she lasts long, I really have high hopes for it. Both of the Fords in my family are broken down right now but this van keeps trekking. Any problems I have I will definately come here for.

Im sure if I were to spread out all the trash thats between the 2 front seats all over, it would put a good layer of trash throughout the whole floor.

You know 142,000 is pretty low for that year van too. Mine has 170,000 and it's a 91.
