Torsion bar replacement info needed

Post by Gordon »

Need as much info on changing torsion bars on a 1991 AWD Astro/Safari van.

The ones on this van are both broken and the front end is sittin in the weeds.

Thanks

The long bars that were orginally on those years are no longer available. You have to get ones for a blazer or newer van. You will also have to replace the torsion locks aka "pork chops". You can use a C-clamp to install the new ones, though I prefer the GM tool. You can get them for around $100 off ebay.

So the 4x4 Jimmy/Blazers used the same torsion bar setup?
