Steering wheel boss/adapter

Post by Mr Singh »

Guys,

I'm finding it a little difficult to find a steering wheel adapter. Most state upto 1994. My van is a 1997.

Most sellers won't gurantee it will fit etc.. My van already has had the airbag removed and a aftermarket steering wheel installed (badly needs replacing!!)

Heres an example of a boss..

Apart from the airbag thing, is there any other differences? i.e. spline differences?

Thanks,
Am.

I've never seen anyone change the wheel on an air-bag equipped car/truck. Aftermarket suppliers prolly don't want to make one or advertise that theirs will fit airbag-equipped models for fear of lawsuits afterwards. This is, of course pure conjecture on my part.

Why not use the adapter that's already there?

I wondered if someone might say that lol

Simply because the one thats already there is bolted straight into without any boss/adapter.

I spoke to several companys, looked in my Haynes manual too, only hurdle seems to have been the airbag, which as mentioned is no longer present in the van..

I might go ahead and get the adapter, if it doesn't fit the sellers have accepted a return/refund :)
