Rear door check clip?

Post by astroblastin »

On the passenger rear door there is this lever that keeps the door from opening too far. Well the clip that holds the lever to the bracket broke off and that lever does not stay on.Has anybody had problems with and if so what did you do to fix it? Thanks!!

Yeah, I've broken a couple. About $2 at the dealership, 10 minutes to replace.

I took the lever out of the clip and shoved it into the door. I need the doors to open all the way. It's not a solution to the problem but it really opens the rear nicely.

Not a big deal to replace but if for some reason you decide to remove the piece attached to the body to adjust, don't remove the screws. There is a treaded plate inside these screws thread into and if removed the plate will fall down inside body panel and the only way to recover the plate is remove tail light assembly and plastic housing that is riveted to body. If you've already removed the screws and it didn't fall, replace screws ASAP before the small amount of dried old adhesive releases plate.

You did good with the magnet. I also tried that and never got a bite. Of course I thought it had fallen to the bottom when actually it was on that little gusset about half way down the light area.

When I had one break on my '94, I nicked one from a yard when I was looking for something else.
