I've wondered about that also. From what I've read they're not reliable enough to be run constantly.

I thought GM put them on some of the higher HP engines?

What about all the other stuff you got to drive like power steering pump and AC?.Then your left to make a custom set-up and with all those brackets-uggggg.We use electric w/p's on the drag race cars, but that is not a d.d.There in drag cars the amount of savings of loss of hp is more important than it would be on a d.d.

You'd have even more amperage draw on an already taxed charging system. More draw= more drag on the alternator, I would think. On a drag car, they start the 1/4 mile with a fully charged battery. The battery will be running the pump/fuel pump etc.. for how long, mebbe 2-4 mintues. If that?
I think you're looking for a solution to a problem which doesn't exist, at least not for us street rodders and part-time draggers. Run electric fans if you've got a real hankering for 'em. Leave the pump as it is....

I concur...leave the stock pump alone. Another plus is that when the stock pump goes out, the replacement is fairly cheap!

If Deano "concurs" (I'm impressed that a yank would even know that word :butthead: ), then I must be wrong.
By all means, replace that pump with an electric version and disregard my previous post.
Thanking you in advance, I remain

I wish that someone somewhere that was a forum programmer would allow "hovering" of the pointer over a place that would then popup a small window to define the item in longhand. No more having to do "d.d.=daily driver" thing or having to go the the definitions page.
