Hello from Toronto

Post by at1212b »

New member here and having a good time reading up on all those Astro/Safari lovers. Especially since they have been discontinued, I think it is more important to preserve and keep the spirit alive!

My Astro is just stock, was the family hauler but just left on the side mainly for hauling stuff once in awhile nowadays.

I can't say this Astro has been trouble free but it is overall a fun car to drive (esp with the short front end) and was the party wagon back in late 1998-2002 while I was in university. Cannot forget the memories and all the trips and night outs.

It still makes for heck of a vehicle to keep around (my friends now realize the value in having one) since they would always call me if something needed to be moved or transported.

Everything is just stock, and I plan to keep it that way since I'm not that good with repairs and stuff. The body is starting to rot at the bottom. I haven't really put much focus onto it (is having problems with the engine bracket bolt again lately), but do plan on resurrecting it again for this year and to enjoy those camping trips again.

YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

yep, thanks to this place, I've lifted the van, got bigger tires, added an aux battery, rear sway bar, and now want to paint the lower body cladding...'cause I wanna look like dunedog.
In the 16 years I owned my '90 shorty, didn't do anything but get a big set of tires for the rear...stereo upgrade doesn't count

true ... but I grew up in Parkdale and spend the better part of 34 of my 36 years living in the City. Anything outside of the 'hood still seems strange. Some nights I would give $100.00 just to hear a damn streetcar go by.

Thanks for the welcome all. The energy in this place is pretty amazing.

Heheh, probably, especially the more I read and learn about stuff, and what can/has been done, it is definitely more tempting.
