I can't answer your question from experience but a 1995 Chevy C3500 comes with ether a 4L60E or a 4L80E, so I will say yes.

I am selling my diesel pick up and am looking at building a tow rig... the truck I have lined up is a 1998 2500 suburban with a 454 and a 4L80e... just making sure that the trans will bolt up to a cummins 4BT with the GM adapter, which fits small blocks and diesels... I would assume they are all the same but dont want to buy the truck if I am just going to have to buy another trans. It would also be reasuring to know that the 454 might bolt to the 4l60e in the astro... but that is a project for another day!

Most "GM' i.e Chevy and GMC trucks will all bolt up from SBC to BBC. If you were in to a pass car situation, then the Pontiacs/Buicks/Olds have different bolt patterns from the chevys/GM's.

7400 eh? You may be into making a custom upper for the truck intake, honestly I have drooled over this motor for a while just is I'm afraid the throttle body won't clearance the firewall on the dog house entrance even with no heater box. I could be wrong on that, I'm sure you've done measurements however. I was thinking a Ramjet 502 cam and valve springs would help this motor immensely power wise.

There are two or three different Chevy bells used, anything 4.3L and up uses one and then an 8100/LS1 based engines use a modified version of that one, and things like a 2.5L, 3800 and 60 degree V6 (think 2.8/3.1 etc) in RWD applications have their own bell housing pattern that is based off the FWD bell housing pattern except the starter is on the opposite side.
