Hit by a Drunk Driver

Post by CaptSquid »

Let me tell you a story about a boy who was hit by a drunk driver.

The young lad was cycling on his way to baseball practice. He was following the existing traffic laws and it was a nice, sunny day. Suddenly, he found himself about 25-30' away from the road, lying next to a sapling and surrounded by a multitude of public servants. Somehow, his mother had been contacted and she arrived on the scene shortly after that. The boy suffered no apparent injuries (amazing just how resiliant a young body can be), but was taken home anyway, despite his insistence that he continue on to baseball practice. His bike wasn't damaged, either, although the handlebars were knocked out of alignment.

Yes, this is a true story; it happened some 40 years ago. That young boy was me. To this day, I cannot remember a thing from just before the impact to the time I came to.

Dang. And no one got the plate numbers? Ratz. Glad you are STILL ok from that and it serves as a good reminder of the grace giving at the time to live on :) Hmm and that was back in the days when steel bumpers where in place and not these high-crumple plastic bumpers!

Funny how old memories start to come back & we think about things like this.
Angels brought your Mom to you...And were watching over you cuz you could have so easily have been killed.
We all need to be thankful for how lucky we are in moments like that.
Thanks for sharing your story.
