What Brakes Pads Should I Choose?

When I did my first brake job, I bought LLT Lifetime Warranty Pads from Kragen; I haven't paid for a set since. They now have stopped the program and will not exchange them anymore. As disappointed as I am, I guess I got my money's worth.

In my search for a new set, I was overwhelmed by the choices. I was considering ceramic as I hear they are quiet and dustless.

Autozone:

Kragen:

Any advice?

Buy the best you can afford. I know that doesn't help much as far as brand selection goes...

But your life is at the mercy of your brakes. Do you really want to skimp on $$$ there?

I cruise into Autozone, ask what he has in stock in terms of ceramic... He punches it up as he tells me how they are the real deal and though I've never used them, should give them a try. Before I say okay, he starts to question why the single pair he has left is only $19. He doesn't know why and sells me the expensive "best" ceramic pads for the stated price.
I get home, install them, and give them a test. All is well! They stop great, quieter than any I've used in the past. Let's hope they hold up. $20, you can't beat it!

Are ceramic pads really dustless? If they are that's what I'm buying for the next brake job. My disc brakes dust something awfull. My front wheels are gray all the time.
