how would i clean the T.B.I. on a 1992 astro vin;Z

If'n it was me, I'd get myself a TBI rebuild kit (just a bunch of seals and gaskets). Tear it apart. Clean everything and put it back together. Then run some kind of injector cleaner through a tank of gas.

I did mine once using a gallon can of carb cleaner. I got it at one of the chain parts stores. Took the TBI unit apart, and soaked it overnight. Then cleaned it up with several cans of spray carb cleaner and assembled with the kit mentioned above.

sounds good, this is what i had in mind get a couple cans of carb cleaner and alot of papertowls and spary into the T.B.I. on the butterflies and wipe it real quick to get the crap out so it does not go into the intake so i would clean it with out taking it all apart then clean the vacume ports if possiby? then i will take it for a test drive and give a couple of wide open throttle runs to get that carbon out. also i was thinking i could buy a new/rebuilt T.B.I. and swap them out then clean my old one and ues it as a spare so next time i just swap again for a clean one!!!! also how much do the T.B.I. cost without the injecters?

You can't clean it well enough to make any difference by just spraying carb cleaner on it. Lockdoc is correct in that taking it apart and doing the job right is the best way. There's too many areas that need cleaning that spraying just wont get to. It's a simple device and very easy to rebuild. Go for it.

ditto what everyone else said. The rebuild kit is 13 or 14 bucks.
the carbon build-up at the PCV port can get dense enough to require soaking in carb cleaner and scraping to get it all out.

I don't recall you saying why you want to rebuild the TBI.What is the problem you are having??.

i just have never done it before but i am going to look at the T.B.I. later to see how dirty it is.

The dirtiest part will be in the bottom of the throttle body, which can't be seen by opening the throttle plate. The fuel pressure regulator tends to get pretty gummed up as well. The Haynes repair manuals have a good write up on how to rebuild it. The Haynes and a rebuild kit has got to be cheaper than a replacement throttle body, rebuilt or not.

Replace the regulator as well.
You will have it torn down that far anyway.

heres the problem this vehical is the only one me and my family uses and have 3 people ueses it so it would be hard if anything happend and can't have very long down time nomore then a day or two.

Well then why do you buy a junk yard TBI and rebuild it.They are pretty cheap and you could wait until you have that one done before you do the swap to the rebuilt one.
