why do i get this É instead of a question mark

i just got a new computer/keyboard/monitor and i get these é when i type apostriphie(sp) and other keys. im extremely computer ilitterate.

Hit & hold down the shift key followed by the control key. Let go. Problem fixed.

PS: Believe it or not, it's actually "Email Money Transfer". I argued with the bank teller until she showed me the definition on the bank website. It was, mind you, a canadian bank ....
