I know you can do this, I'd think anyone that can hold a wrench could switch the V6 engine motor mounts from side to side when bolting them to the V8. Then you just move the frame motor mounts forward 3" and the offset in the engine mounts makes up the rest of the extra length of the V8. This way you have no header etc issues to deal with and the V8 is balanced in the frame the way GM intended it.

I might be able to make you life simpler.I got a set of Steath mounts and If I don't need them because I find the ones in the donor to be workable,I sell you mine for what I have in them plus shipping.Now I got to warn you that the shop I have been trying to work with is not very fast in getting things done. ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) But once I have a handle on what I need and I have found out those mounts are not needed,there yours to have.

Hey Stan,
Just for a point of ref for AWD'ers-can you do this side to side swap for them??.

Hello;

I am in the process of doing a V-8 install, and your comment above intrigued me. I just looked on my 91 Safari, and yes, on the passenger side, I can see where I could move the frame mount forward 3". However, on the drivers side, the mount is already to the front of the crossmember, and if I were to move it 3" forward, then there would be only 2 bolts holdinig the frame mount to the crossmember. Did you have to add a shim of plate between the mount and frame? Surely, 2 bolts isn't enough strength to harness the torque of V-8.

Curious, :-k

Yes, you will have to fabricate a plate to attach the stock perch to. You might have to make a template to transfer the hole spacing to your plate. 1/4 to 3/8 inch thick plate should be sufficient. This method tips the engine slightly but not enough to hinder performance.

Thank you Rock;

That is what I thought, but figured I would send it out to the experts anyway. Yeah, the little bit of tilt won't hurt a thing.

Thanks again,

On the drivers side the riser tower that bolts to the frame with 3 bolts and nuts has a different angle on the back bolt. Should I flatten the angle on the bottom ear of the riser tower? The V6 mounts reach forward BTW, that's why switching them brings the mount holes 2 7/8" away from the original holes.
