Van has the horizontal slider switch to activate rear heat. Cannot be moved, but with plastic nob off, I can slide it by grasping metal shaft with needlenose and pulling out away from dash while moving it. Any thoughts?

Broken slider track for the switch?

Sounds like it's time for a trip to the junque yard. Bring a phillips and a pair of needle nose.

Switch track is fine it's just that when you try to slide it the normal way, you're also pushing in a little and this hangs it up. Yea probably junque time.

same thing happened in mine when I first got it tom .. i think it was another control other than the rear heat though. pulling out the switch itself and making sure it was clear of everything didn't work. ended up grabbing one at a boneyard.

i think that it has something to do with the metal shaft digging itself into the plastic slider after being seated improperly at somepoint.. so when trying to move the slider it wouldn't budge. popped a new one on and was good.

Crash-how much of the dash has to be taken apart to get at these sliders? On my 95, the rear heat is on a plastic panel that includes moto-mirror and other controls. Not a screw in sight.

there are 2 small screws on the underside of that dash panel, once those are out you should be able to pull the bottom of the panel out and then pop the top of it loose. the top is held in by 3 spring clips.
