Ford's coolest van ever

Post by T.Low »

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I like it. But its still a little too big (I know, I've owned a full sized Bronco.)

As posted on Expo:

"That's Bruce Lansfield. He used to work for AMP Research (may still) and developed some AMP steps for our vans. Super cool guy, met him a few years ago. Notice those running boards?

I don't remember if he shortened a Quigley or used a Bronco chassis???"

From this picture taken on the freeway, anyway, it looks like a great job. Would love to test drive it for a long backroads weekend, but I suspect it would still be bigger than I would personally prefer. Would like to know a little more about it, though, thats for sure.

This is cool.

Tom you might like the size of the shortened E van. The bodies are only 1.8" wider, front track 3.7" wider, rear 1.9" wider, than the Astro.

The big difference comes in height. They are about 6" taller stock, 5.3" of which can be found in the interior.

I was thinking with a slightly shorter snout, it'd look a lot like a stro or safari on steroids.
'89 Astro, 4.3L, TBI. Minor intake and exhaust mods. Rebuilt 700R4 trans (by me). Corvette servo, 0.5" boost valve, police grade 1-2 accumulator spring (shifts fast and solid). B&M stacked plate trans cooler. Bilstein shocks. Belltech sway bars front and back. New head unit, speakers and subwoofer. Needs paint and a new headliner.

name's Steve
I can't remember all I've forgotten about that....

Yeah, a lot of the contractors I work with have chipped em out and hopped em up and they do ok. Especially in shorty-bobbed form like the red one above, I'd suspect. Intriguing to say the least.
